Farm Drive to be closed from Valley Drive to Lot Q on 5/22

Posted by Bob Martinazzi on May 17, 2013

Farm Drive from Valley Drive to Lot Q will be closed from May 22nd through July 16th to allow for restoration of the sitework in front of the Cambridge Community.   Access to the CSS Wing 4 loading dock will be restricted from May 22nd until June 25th, all deliveries during this timeframe should be to the CSS Wing 3 loading dock.  Additionally the sidewalks along Farm Drive and in front of Cambridge Hall will be closed with marked pedestrian detours in place around the east and west side of the site.

During the Farm Drive closures, a detour through Lot Q will be provided.  This detour will reduce the number of parking spaces in Lot Q, therefore those assigned to Lot Q may park in Lot B throughout the summer months.

Generator Testing – March 18th-20th

Posted by Bob Martinazzi on March 13, 2013

Start-up Testing of the Physical Sciences generator will occur over spring break, March 18th-20th. Testing will occur from 7am-7pm all three days. Activity around the CSS Wing 3 loading dock and noise from the generator will impact the immediate area.

The generator has a sound attenuation housing to minimize the noise during normal conditions, however during the startup and testing phase access to the generator will require many of the access doors to be open allowing higher than normal sound impacts in the immediate area.

Electrical Outage – CSS Wing 4

Posted by Bob Martinazzi on August 8, 2012

Facilities Management Capital Projects will be performing an electrical outage on Tuesday, August 14th from 5:00am until 8:00am that will affect Computer and Space Science wing 4. The purpose of this outage is to permit the contractor to tie-in new feeders and add new breakers in the electrical panel BP-11, BL -1 and for the motor control center #2 on the roof. This will affect the electrical service for the entire wing 4; anything on the emergency power will not be affected.

Also these specific services will be affected during the outage

• HVAC systems at various locations in WING 4.
• HVAC Cooling to Atmospheric/Oceanic Server Room
• Emergency Siren/Tornado Horn on Roof.
• FM- Life Safety SPRINKLER Systems in Room 0400B.
• Security Power Receptacles in Security Closet 0400A (Not sure if power supplies for card readers are in this room).

Does NOT appear to affect BDF Room 0410. (except if HVAC cooling could be a concern during the 3 hours).
